The Great Scarf Knitting Challenge

Back in the Autumn our Minister, the Rev Liz Singleton issued us with a Scarf Knitting Challenge.  The idea was that the 'knitters' should be sponsored so that the scarves could be sent to 'our families' and others in Romania through our link with the 'Ecce Homo' charity.  The sponsor money would go towards our ongoing work as a church. No one quite new for the ensuing months just how things were progressing; mainly a story of "I'm not getting on very fast . . .", "I wish I could find more time . . . ", "Where does the time go . . . !?"  The omens did not seem good.

'Oh ye of little faith'!   It proved an outstanding success with some 130 scarves plus three or four blankets and a dozen woolly hats adorning the Church last Sunday, our Chapel Anniversary, and sponsorships so far received amounting to £814.  Liz was rightly delighted with the response (as will many good folk in Romania).  We were able to present the scarves etc. to Mrs. Rosemary Coote M.B.E., chair of the local arm of 'Ecce Homo', who was able to give us an update on the Jersey contribution to this vital work in Romania and about our sponsored families.  Many thanks to all who contributed.
